No, KBFUS does not accept unsolicited grant proposals.
If your organization has a U.S. donor who would like to support your activities, contact us at [email protected] and we’ll be happy to review solutions.
You can donate to a fund in different ways: by credit card, check or wire transfer, or you can contribute appreciated assets like stocks or bonds, even cryptocurrencies. For more information, please visit kbfus.org/waystogive

The King Baudouin Foundation (KBF) and the King Baudouin Foundation United States (KBFUS) are two separate, independent foundations. KBF is based in Belgium and is one of Europe’s leading foundations. KBF is the parent foundation of KBFUS, a U.S. 501(c)(3) public charity based in New York City. KBFUS is a part of Myriad, a global alliance that connects donors with trusted charities around the world to encourage, stimulate, and facilitate borderless giving. For more information, see https://myriad.org.
Since KBFUS is a public charity, within the meaning of Sections 501(c)(3) and 509(a)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC), donors may claim the maximum tax benefits allowed by U.S. tax law for their contributions.
KBFUS vets all of its grantees and nonprofit partners using a due diligence questionnaire. Reputational checks are carried out through our networks of local partners and consultants. In addition, the names of trustees, directors and key employees of grantees are checked against the lists of individuals and organizations identified by the U.S. government and the United Nations as associated with terrorism.
Funds hosted at KBFUS are not legally registered entities. Since KBFUS is a Section 501(c)(3) public charity, donors may claim the maximum tax benefits allowed by U.S. tax law for their contributions.

KBFUS does not fundraise on behalf of its nonprofit partners, nor do we introduce them to donors, except in cases where both the nonprofit and the donor express interest in such an introduction.
Grant Portal & Fund Portal
Yes, you can see the donations that your fund has received. Use the login details sent in the email announcing the opening of your fund to access the online portal at https://kbfus.fcsuite.com/erp/fundmanager/list. If you no longer have login details, email [email protected] for assistance.
An organization that meets either of the two following criteria may submit a grant request:
- (1) the organization has an American Friends Fund with a balance of at least $5,000,
or - (2) the organization received an announcement from KBFUS inviting it to submit a grant request for a grant from a Donor Advised Fund.
Grant requests can be submitted at https://www.grantinterface.com/Home/Logon?urlkey=kbfus.
Go to https://www.every.org/kbfus. Once you’re an admin for your donation page, you will see a building icon in the top navigation header which you can use to access the Admin Dashboard. From the Admin Dashboard, click on the “Profile” tab to make changes to your donation page.
Donor Advised Funds
Yes, you can see the donations that your fund has received. Use the login details sent in the email announcing the opening of your fund to access the online portal at https://kbfus.fcsuite.com/erp/fundmanager/list. If you no longer have login details, email [email protected] for assistance.
KBFUS can receive gifts by check, credit card or wire transfer, and also gifts of appreciated assets such as stocks, bonds, mutual funds, real estate and other types of property – even cryptocurrencies.
KBFUS has two grant cycles a month – on the second and the fourth Thursday of each month. All completed grant request applications are reviewed by our team and then approved by our Grants Committee. It typically takes between 2 and 4 weeks for our grantees to receive their grant payment via wire transfer.

American Friends Funds

Opening an American friends fund at KBFUS is simple and straightforward. The first step to open a fund is to complete our online application form, providing us with information about your organization, its mission, programs and funding sources. Based on this information, we will determine if your organization is the equivalent of a charity, within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code, and if its activities are consistent with our charitable purposes. Once your application has been approved, we will sign an agreement establishing your American Friends Fund. All of this can be done in a matter of 2-3 weeks.

Make sure to update the information we have on file for you, including annual reports and audited financials, and add a description of the project to be supported with the grant.

A fiscal sponsor is an existing 501(c)(3) public charity which accepts to receive funds on behalf of another organization, usually through some kind of formal agreement. KBFUS calls its fiscal sponsorship solution an ‘American Friends Fund’.
Yes, with an American Friends Fund at KBFUS you can apply for grants reserved for 501(c)(3) public charities. Check with the grantmaker to confirm eligibility.
Organizations with an American Friends Fund receive a dedicated credit card donation page, which has crowdfunding capabilities. To ensure that your online donations are properly recorded, use your dedicated credit card donation page.
