Run by artists and architects elected by their peers, the Royal Academy of Arts  (United Kingdom) has championed art and artists for over 250 years. It has a broader role than a museum – it promotes not just the appreciation and understanding of art, but also its practice. A $194,000 grant from its Royal Academy America Fund will help provide free tuition for students.
